Haryana Internet ban extended

Haryana Government on Saturday extended the ban on mobile internet and bulk SMS services in 7 districts Ambala, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Jind, Hisar, Fatehabad and Sirsa by two more days.
The government had earlier imposed the ban from 11th February till 13th February then it was extended for two more days because of agitation from farmer’s protest.
In accordance of the protest, the ban was initiated prior by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. But this order was extended due to uncontrolled situations on Haryana Borders.

What is the reason for internet extension in Haryana?

The government had earlier extended the suspension from 13th february to 17th february.
Farmer’s Unions including The Samyukta Kisan Morcha and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha are agitating the ‘Delhi Chalo’ protest to put pressure on the Central Government for their demands, including a law on minimum support price (MSP) for crops.
Thousands of farmers who are protesting continue to camp at the Shambhu and Khanauri points of the Punjab – Haryana border.

The order has been issued under Section 5 of the Indian Telegraph Act, 1885 and Rule 2 of The Temporary Suspension of Telecom Services ( Public Emergency or Public Safety) Rules, 2017.
The suspension decision was taken in order to stop the spread of misinformation and rumours through various social media platforms and also to prevent the disturbance of law and order. Another possible reason for extension of suspension on internet services was to minimise the damage of property both public and private also disturbance and tranquility in these districts.

Hence, the internet services remain suspended till further orders in Haryana.
