IED Blast at Rameshwaram Café.
IED blast took over at Rameshwaram cafe at Bengaluru on Friday 2nd march, the cafe is presented at the heart of the city and has given a shock to the IT capital of India. Chief Minister of Karnataka Siddaramaiah confirmed that the device was kept inside the bag of a customer. He also said that the blast was not that explosive but was an improvised blast.
The man who placed the bag containing the IED has been identified on CCTV and he also took a token from the cash counter, for which the cashier is under investigation. Total 9 people including staff members and a customer was injured because of the blast, though the injured are not critical. Teams of police, firefighters, forensics and a bomb disposal squad gathered at the site of incident soon after the blast.
How did the blast take place?
Initially, when the blast took place it was thought to be a cylinder blast but the founder of the café told Nagraj told BJP MP Tejaswi Surta that the blast was from a bag left by the customer.
A random guy who placed an order at the cash counter, left a bag without even taking his order and when the explosion took place there were many people inside, there was a loud sound and the fire started erupting which caused the injuries.
The explosion took place where the customers wash their hands, as per the reports. There were two explosions within 10 seconds of each other.
The case is still being investigated and has been registered at the Hal police station in Bengaluru in connection with the blast under the Unlawful Activities (prevention) Act and the Explosives Substances Act.
What is IED Blast? Meaning of IED Blast.
Improvised Explosive Device is a bomb constructed and deployed in ways other than in conventional military action. IED’s are basically used by terrorists to strike soft targets and by insurgents as weapons against a stronger enemy. They are usually made at a low cost and are relatively easy to construct and emplace.
It was not the first time IED has been used, there were several events where IED was used including events such as the 2006 Jama Masjid bombings and the 2013 Bodh Gaya Bombings.
The investigations are going for the blast and the officials are in search of the culprit. The culprit might be punished with 30 to 40 years in jail, which is still yet to be decide by the law, for more such updates.. Stay Tuned.
