What Happened In Haldwani Uttarakhand?

A curfew was imposed in Uttarakhand’s city Haldwani on Thursday as people created a violence and started setting fire on vehicles and police stations and also threw stones after which more than 100 people were highly injured and 4 faced their death. All of this was because of an Illegally built madrasa and a mosque with it. The sources said.

The people who were injured during this are mainly the police personnel including Haldwani’s SDM who are now hospitalized in Soban Singh Jeena Hospital at Malik Ka Bagicha. The others who got injured were mainly people who were included in the demolition of the structure.

For those who don’t know what madrasa (madrasah) is?

It is an Islamic School which provides study of higher education inclusive of islamic sciences. Madrasa is an arabic word which means place of learning. This mainly teaches the islamic laws and generally stands by a mosque, this is funded by a trust known as waqf.

Schools are temporarily closed and Curfew Imposed in Uttarakhand….

After all this situation the officials decided to impose a curfew and not only this they are also ordered for shoot at sight. All of the schools from classes 1-12th are temporarily closed for now in the city and all the shops are also closed to maintain a higher security and peace.

Many people are now on streets for the protest including women in large numbers for the demolition of the 2 islamic structures. After which the lathi charge was imposed to clear the crowd.. but the people came out to be so violent.. they set the fire on Banbhoolpura police station after which the curfew was imposed.

Statement from the Officials says…..on Haldwani News

“A team of the administration had gone to the Banbhoolpura area to remove encroachments in compliance with a court order. Anarchic elements clashed with the police and indugled in arson. Curfew has been imposed and additional companies of police and central para-miltary forces are being rushed to Haldwani to maintain order.”
“Everyone has been asked to maintain peace. Stern action will be taken against the rioters who indulged in arson,”

Also if someone violates the curfew order, they’ll be punished under section 188 which says disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant..of the Indian Penal Code.
