The town Barsana is known as the birthplace of Radha Rani, where ‘Lathmar Holi’ is very famous and is celebrated every year with great enthusiasm. Men splash colours and water on women and women then use sticks to playfully hit men and chase them away, this unique festival symbolises the love between Radha and Krishna and draws thousand of tourists and devotees to Barsana every year.
People from all around the world visit Barsana especially to celebrate and witness ‘Lathmar Holi’. The festival is symbol of love, unity and brotherhood, as according to Hindu mythology, Lord Krishna used to visit Barsana with his friends from Nandgaon to play
Holi.
Usually ‘Lathmar Holi’ is celebrated 4-5 days before Holi, but this year it will be celebrated on 24th March, Sunday.
